Endorsement Criteria

We endorse leaders who are bold, inclusive, and bring people together—not divide them.

Inclusive - Defend the rights of all people regardless of sexual preference, identity, and beliefs.

Environmentally Conscious - Prioritize the protection of nature and long-term sustainability. (HI State Constitution/Ka Pa’akai Analysis)

Cultural Stewardship - Protect and perpetuate Native Hawaiian culture, traditions, and practices.

Community-Rooted - Testified on issues, volunteered their time, and held leadership roles.

Collaborative - Listen well and work with others toward shared goals.

Respected - Earned trust in their community through action.

Emotionally Mature - Handle conflict with grace, not spite.

Our Interview Panel & Process

HULI PAC draws from a diverse list of interview volunteers: respected Native Hawaiian advocates, multi-generational kama'aina, and new residents committed to Native Hawaiian rights and cultural practices. Our endorsement committee reaches consensus on endorsements after conducting interviews and research.

Our Approach

We encourage community voice and collaboration with sitting leadership—regardless of election outcomes. In our small community, respect and collaboration are essential to creating meaningful change.
